|How Little Mix Conquered America|

When Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade sang their way to victory in 2011’s eighth series of The X Factor UK, who could have guessed that this awesome bunch of girls could go on to become one of the most successful bands in the world!? Tulisa’s so called ‘Little Muffins’ have gone on to eclipse the achievements of their former mentor, both in the UK and – especially – abroad.
The biggest thing since the Spice Girls?
Some Little Mixers won’t be able to remember what a big deal the Spice Girls were when they launched to super-stardom in the 1990s, but let’s just say it was pretty much the closest thing to Beatlemania (or One Direction-mania!) there’s ever been.
Loads of groups become great in the UK, but the real test of whether a group has worldwide legendary potential is how well they do in the charts in the United States. Little Mix did their label boss Simon Cowell proud (and made him an even richer man) by scoring a number #4 U.S. album chart entry with their debut LP – one place higher than the Spice Girls back in 1995!
Enjoying their success and working hard
For millions of people around the world, being a pop star like the members of Little Mix is a dream. Don’t be fooled though, the girl’s are working super-hard. With hundreds of appearances to make every year including concerts, interviews and publicity events; as well as singing rehearsals, choreography and near-constant travelling, it’s no walk in the park being a member of Little Mix. Poor Perry hardly ever gets to spend time with her hunky One Direction fiancée, and the girls almost certainly didn’t get to hit the casinos on their recent trip to Vegas – maybe they played in an online casino on the tour bus instead!
What makes Little Mix so perfect for America?
Little Mix are big stars in the UK, but they’re arguably even bigger in the US. So what exactly is it that makes them so perfect for the States? Maybe it’s their Brit appeal… The Americans don’t always get the British, but when they do, they love them – just think of The Beatles touching down at the height of the teenage rock and pop revolution! Even though many Americans struggle to understand what Little Mix are saying, they love their Britishness. Throw into the mix some great r’n’b style singing and the band’s cute and cool style and it’s easy to see why America’s crazy for Little Mix!
