X Factor’s Lucy Spraggan’s ‘beer fear’ song removed from iTunes over ‘chart threat to little mix’

X Factor’s Lucy Spraggan’s ‘beer fear’ song removed from iTunes over ‘chart threat to little mix’

X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan’s ‘beer fear’ audition song has been removed from iTunes, along with the singer’s self released album.

The 20 year old’s song had rocketed up the Irish and UK downloads chart after her appearance on Saturday’s audition show when she received a standing ovation from the judges after her audition performance.

By yesterday evening it had peaked as high as number three on the iTunes charts in Ireland and number two the UK, however the song was removed from the music download store overnight.

There has been no official reason given for its removal, however social media and online forums have suggested it was because the song was threatening to overtake last year’s winners Little Mix’ debut single in the charts.

Another reason suggested by many online was that SyCo, Simon Cowell’s record label who normally look after X Factor acts, ordered the song removed as she was not signed to the label.

This suggests she has progressed to the live shows in the competition as this is when she would automatically become locked in to the label.

The singer suggested this yesterday when she posted on her official Facebook page: “Oh dear 🙁 the album is coming offline guys, in preparation for some things coming up… Not my call to make, get it while you can!”

Spraggan’s song had been steadily climbing the iTunes chart in both countries as her audition continues to go viral worldwide on YouTube.
