Little Mix owned the stage at the Stadium of Light tonight.
The X Factor-winning girl group were part of the line-up at North East Live.
The band, which includes South Shields girls Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, were welcomed by a screaming crowd at Sunderland’s home ground.
Jumping straight into their hit single, How Ya Doin’?, showing off their big voices and slick dance moves, the girls wowed the audience.
The group, which also stars Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, were performing fresh off their successful visit to America, which saw them make history as the first British girl group to debut in the top five on the US Billboard 200 with their first album.
And on stage today, they proved exactly why they’re taking over the world.
With just four male dancers to back them up, and a plain backdrop, the girls showed that they don’t need flashy costumes, special effects and dramatic staging to put on an amazing show.
After How Ya Doin’? the girls moved into the emotive Change Your Life, showing off their huge voices and stunning harmonies, hitting notes that some singers can only dream of with ease.
The down-to-Earth girls told the crowd how “amazing” it was to be back in the North East, and thanked people for their support, even saying they wouldn’t be where they are today if it wasn’t for the people of the region.
Covers of Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass and En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go recalled their X Factor days, demonstrating just how much they’ve grown in the two years since winning the show.
The girls had huge smiles on their faces throughout the whole performance, and you could tell just how much they love what they’re doing.
They ended their set with hits, DNA and Wings, as the crowd cheered, screamed, and sang along word-for-word.
The girls are born performers and the only negative of their time on stage is that it wasn’t long enough.
Little Mix undoubtedly have a long and amazing career in front of them, and I can’t wait to watch it every step of the way.
