Reviews - Little Mix smash their gig at the Hammersmith Apollo in London

The reviews are coming in and it seems Little Mix have smashed what is possibly the biggest gig they’ll ever do. The Apollo has seen many stars in the past, but now they’re seen four.

Check out the reviews below…

If their tour video diaries are anything to go by, then Little Mix are having the time of their lives travelling the UK with their debut album DNA.

Last night saw them walking out onto the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo to confront London’s notoriously tough crowd as part of their first headline tour. Famous as The X Factor’s first ever group to win the contest, their unity and charm, which gained them so many votes, instantly drew the crowd in. This is a girl group you want to be bessies with.

Chart-topper ‘Wings’ had screaming teenage girls standing on their seats and wiggling to the beats, while even the parents who had been dragged along couldn’t resist a shoulder shuffle or two. A mostly female crowd meant hairbrush-in-the-mirror moments were aplenty, with album tracks ‘How Ya Doin’?’ and ‘Red Planet’ allowing fans to mirror the girls’ on-stage sass.

A tribute to some of their favourite girl bands of pop years past resulted in a fine-tuned, finger-clicking medley of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, Destiny’s Child’s ‘Bootylicious’ and En Vogue’s ‘Don’t Let Go’ – with Little Mix playing their role as pop girl-fans by emulating their own idols.

It wasn’t all fairy lights and doe-eyed smiles though. “Everyone has a dark side,” the backdrop read, as the four-piece emerged on stage to perform their pop-noir hit ‘DNA’. Striking choreography, tight harmonies and sinister-sweet expressions reinforced their image as the fiercely polished pop vixens they have transformed into since The X Factor.

As the crowd chanted “Little Mix” before an encore of ‘Change Your Life’ and a reprise of ‘Wings’, the girls seemed genuinely humbled by the rapturous response. It’s lucky Little Mix seem to enjoy touring so much, because they’ve got the whole world to travel yet.
