Reviews - Little Mix smash their gig at the Hammersmith Apollo in London

The reviews are coming in and it seems Little Mix have smashed what is possibly the biggest gig they’ll ever do. The Apollo has seen many stars in the past, but now they’re seen four.

Check out the reviews below…

If their tour video diaries are anything to go by, then Little Mix are having the time of their lives travelling the UK with their debut album DNA.

Last night saw them walking out onto the stage at the Hammersmith Apollo to confront London’s notoriously tough crowd as part of their first headline tour. Famous as The X Factor’s first ever group to win the contest, their unity and charm, which gained them so many votes, instantly drew the crowd in. This is a girl group you want to be bessies with.

Chart-topper ‘Wings’ had screaming teenage girls standing on their seats and wiggling to the beats, while even the parents who had been dragged along couldn’t resist a shoulder shuffle or two. A mostly female crowd meant hairbrush-in-the-mirror moments were aplenty, with album tracks ‘How Ya Doin’?’ and ‘Red Planet’ allowing fans to mirror the girls’ on-stage sass.

A tribute to some of their favourite girl bands of pop years past resulted in a fine-tuned, finger-clicking medley of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, Destiny’s Child’s ‘Bootylicious’ and En Vogue’s ‘Don’t Let Go’ – with Little Mix playing their role as pop girl-fans by emulating their own idols.

It wasn’t all fairy lights and doe-eyed smiles though. “Everyone has a dark side,” the backdrop read, as the four-piece emerged on stage to perform their pop-noir hit ‘DNA’. Striking choreography, tight harmonies and sinister-sweet expressions reinforced their image as the fiercely polished pop vixens they have transformed into since The X Factor.

As the crowd chanted “Little Mix” before an encore of ‘Change Your Life’ and a reprise of ‘Wings’, the girls seemed genuinely humbled by the rapturous response. It’s lucky Little Mix seem to enjoy touring so much, because they’ve got the whole world to travel yet.

Rating: 4/5 stars

DNA Tour Day 11: Little Mix perform at the Barbican Centre in York

Check out this review of Little Mix’s recent tour when it stopped at the Barbican Centre in York.

Little Mix bounced on to the Barbican stage in crop tops and jeans to be greeted by a mass of screaming fans awaiting their arrival. With slick dance moves and fabulous voices, the group were an instant hit!

They opened with We Are Who We Are and Perrie introduced the group with enthusiasm and a smile.

Throughout their performance, the girls, despite their newly-found fame and fortune, came across as very down to earth and seemed touched by the amount of support they were receiving.

Everyone loved the performance of Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass – Little Mix-style – before they slowed it down when singing Always Be Together where Jesy admitted the girls were like sisters to her.

While taking a quick break, a video played showing the girls’ friendship, personalities and humour, making it clear to the crowd that Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade really are the best of friends.

The girls, full of energy and excitement, soon bounded back on to the stage in their second costume and the crowd were only too happy to sing along to the groups best known songs; Wings, DNA and Madhouse.

After the second costume change they performed a cover from one of their most popular X-Factor songs, Katy Perry’s E.T, before playing the medley of songs they created inspired by girl bands.

It’s hard to believe the band only rose to fame a year ago after being the first group ever to win X-Factor.

The girls then changed into their final costumes and sung their new single, Change Your Life, where they again thanked the crowd for coming, made a few shout outs to the audience and thanked their band.

They then asked: “Does anyone know the lyrics to wings?” A huge scream gave the answer Little Mix was hoping for as they burst into the chorus of their No1 hit single all over again!

Interview - The Mend talk supporting Little Mix on tour

They were one of the stand out acts on Britian’s Got Talent, and now they’ve secured a once in a lifetime spot on the Little Mix tour, so life can’t get better for these boys at the moment.

Check out the interview below where the boys discuss how they managed to secure the slot.

How are you guys doing today? What have you been up to so far?
Kris: It’s been a roller-coaster. We’ve been together now for 4 years so to tell you everything would take too long but in a nutshell we spent the first two years learning how to write and perform together and the last two years writing with various producers and getting out there gigging. We started off doing schools and clubs but just recently we’ve been on tour with Little Mix and thats been amazing. We are all buzzing this is what its all about. Singing your songs to a big audience is just the biggest thrill and being on the road with all the tour crew who are all so pro we are all loving it

You’re currently in the middle of the Little Mix tour. How has that experience been so far?
Jay: We know the Little Mix girls personally and they invited us to do the tour a while back but we didn’t know if we could afford it. After BGT we were offered a modest singles deal by Sony but the guy was more interested in exploiting the BGT appearance than what we had to offer as a band and we all felt uncomfortable with it so we declined the offer. Sony were really cool and let us do it ourselves on our own label.
