Charli XCX says she's a fan of Simon Cowell but not a fan of his musical acts

Charli XCX says she’s a fan of Simon Cowell but not a fan of his musical acts.

The 22-year old singer hopes to one day set up her own label like the X Factor judge, but clearly isn’t a fan of the songs released by SyCo acts like One Direction, Susan Boyle or Little Mix.

‘I think Simon Cowell’s cool, I’d love to be in that position, but from the point of view of making music that’s not s***,’ Charli told Q magazine.

The goth pop star got her big break after collaborating with Icona Pop on the single I Love It, which grew in popularity after appearing in an episode of HBO’s Girls.

Her first number one didn’t come until after she had released two major label albums, when she co-wrote the song Fancy with Iggy Azalea.

Despite her poppy situation in the music industry, Charli says that she found it hard to pen songs for the genre, so spent time in Sweden to produce a purely punk record.

She told Q magazine: ‘I couldn’t make any pop music because I hated pop music. I just didn’t want to think about it I wanted to be free.
‘It was a case of getting it out of my system. I felt stuck.’

Charli recently released her new single, Doing It, featuring Rita Ora with a music video that sees them playing seventies style armed robbers.

Little Mix make X Factor Greatest Hits CD TWICE along with 1D, JLS & more..

A jewellery company has lost a legal battle with media mogul Simon Cowell after trying to launch a range of charms called Little Mix.

Cowell’s company Syco called in lawyers after SGI Jewellery, based in Greengairs, near Airdrie, launched the product with the same name as the girl group.

Sharon Gallacher, 43, the owner of SGI, had claimed the charms were not related to group, which won The X Factor in 2011.

The dispute began when Mrs Gallacher, who runs the business from her home, applied to register the name for a new range of jewellery.

Cowell’s label, which represents the band, launched a legal action to oppose the trademark application. It accused SGI of trying to cash in on the fame of the band and claimed SGI had decided to launch the range only after the band appeared on the ITV talent show.

The UK Intellectual Property Office, which rules on trademark disputes, has now found in Cowell’s favour and told SGI it cannot use the name to market its products. SGI also been ordered to pay Cowell’s company £2200 in legal fees.

Mrs Gallacher, 43, said: “I gave evidence for an hour and a half and thought I had done enough. The name was chosen for a new charm collection because they are both ‘little’ and a mixture of different things, nothing more.”

However, trademark hearing officer Mark Bryant said:”The evidence points to the applicant filing the application with the sole purpose of benefitting from the success of the band.”

Must Watch - Little Mix put Simon Cowell on the spot

Ever wondered if Little Mix were invited to Simon’s house for tea and scones? Or if Simon actually had black loo roll? Well find out below..

Battle Of The Girlbands - Little Mix vs Fifth Harmony

Looks like Little Mix don’t just have a chart battle of their hands..but also a battle of the girlbands with Fifth Harmony set to be signed by Simon Cowell.

The Fifth Harmony girls have drawn comparison to Little Mix throughout the American X Factor and now it seems Simon Cowell has a back-up in case Little Mix fail to crack the States.

“Simon is determined to prove that he can find the next big girl group in America,”

A source tells Examiner.com.

“He missed out on a chance to sign the Spice Girls and he’s regretted it ever since. Little Mix [2011 winner of The X Factor U.K.] might not have crossover success in America, so he’’s hoping Fifth Harmony can fill what he likes to call ‘the gap in the market’ for a superstar all-female pop group.”

Take a look at both Little Mix’s (Superbass) and Fifth Harmony’s (Skyscraper) first live shows of the X Factor.

So who’s better? Little Mix or Fifth Harmony

Little Mix take a battering from Simon Cowell

Little Mix take a battering from Simon Cowell

Little Mix have been a resounding success since winning The X Factor and even been back to the show which made them famous to perform.

But the quartet – Jesy Nelson, 21, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 20, and Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, both 19 – revealed to Now’s Dan Wootton that they only had the confidence to win after a dressing down from Simon Cowell.

‘We had a Skype call with Simon Cowell and all the other contestants,’ says Jesy.

‘He told us: ‘You’re standing there like a bunch of losers.’

Leigh-Anne adds: ‘It was terrifying!
’

‘But to be fair, we did
think we were losers,’ Jade says. ‘Once
he said that, we went straight upstairs and changed how
we were thinking.’

After they triumphed, the group met him in his office where he had a cigarette and talked to them about what happens next.
‘He told us to look at artists like Beyoncé. He’s never had a successful girl band, so this was a challenge for him,’ Jade says.

‘We have a connection with him.’

Looks like X Factor USA can’t seem to get enough of Little Mix. Days after playing a snippet of ‘DNA’ Simon Cowell mentions the girls again.

This time during the interview, he praises the girls work ethic and compares them to the notorious Spice Girls.

X Factor winners Little Mix are determined to prove Simon Cowell wrong after it was revealed he didn’t think much of their talents!

In claims made in a new biography about Simon, Little Mix and last year’s other finalists were branded untalented and unwatchable” by the music mogul.

The comments were made last year in a video chat to the girls, and the other finalists, with Simon confiding in the show’s producers: “This is the worst group of contestants there’s ever been. We need a complete change.”

“They’re pretty upset – it was a low blow and now it’s out in the public it’s worse,” a source close to the group tells Star magazine.

But the girls, who became the first group ever to win the show last year, are now setting their sights on proving him wrong.

The source added: “they’re determined to prove him wrong by becoming a huge success.”

The group will be performing their new music later this summer at T4 On The Beach in July, but it seems they’ve already impressed Simon.

So far it looks like their own his good sides after he tweeted this:

What do you think? Do you think Little Mix have something to prove to Simon?

Little Mix were reportedly on the receiving end of a tantrum from none other than current label boss Simon Cowell. Little Mix, along with The Risk were given nasty comments when brought to Simon Cowell’s attention. Read on to see the full story…

Simon Cowell made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the ‘sub-standard’ X Factor finalists of 2011, as if that wasn’t he enough he verbally bullied some of the X Factor contestants during a 90-minute Skype call.

When Little Mix asked what they could do to improve their performance, Simon abruptly said “The Spice Girls never asked, ‘What should we do?’ They said what they were going to do. If you don’t know, you’re lost.”

Simon also took a swipe at another X Factor group – this time talented boyband The Risk (who came ninth in the competition). An eye witnessed was quoted saying “He really laid into The Risk and said their attitude was horrific. Derry (Mensah, a member of The Risk) had his hood up and he told him that was disrespectful. They got it really bad and seemed shocked. They could have been left feeling like they were bullied because they got it really bad from him. Some of the contestants were trying to stick up for themselves, but he seemed really p*ssed off that we were worried what the audience thought of us’.

In what will definately take a blow to his ‘ego’, Simon definately needs to clean his act up if he is going to manage Little Mix – because I am sure there are many other labels fighting for the pop quartet’s signature.
