Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has stated that it was solely Zayn Malik’s choice to leave One Direction, despite speculation that she encouraged him to quit the boyband.

After having been frequently accused of making one fifth of the globally adored group move on, Edwards has decided to speak out to try and quash the theories that she forced him into choosing between his ever-growing success and their relationship.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, the 21-year-old detailed how while she can see he’s happier and she supports everything he does, she wouldn’t have talked him into such a big career move.

“People have said did I do this, did I do that? No matter what decision he made, I was always going to support him,” she told the publication. “If he’d wanted to stay, I would have supported him just the same as I have done since he’s left… If he’s happy then I’m happy.”

The backlash regarding Edwards’ involvement in Malik’s departure from 1D originally stemmed from when former bandmate Liam Payne told Capital FM that he believed Malik was leaving the band to “spend more time with [Perrie], his fiancée.”

The Black Magic singer went on to tell The Sun that Malik is “really good”, and that she hopes “everyone understands that it was one of the hardest decisions he’s ever made in his life.”

She continued: “I don’t think anyone other than him really knows what he was feeling in his head and heart, but he made that decision and was 100 per cent on it. And the fans have been great and his family have been great. I love them all, they’re lush. And obviously I’ve been there for him. As long as he’s happy, that all that matters.”

Edwards has been engaged to 22-year-old Malik since late 2013, but the young couple are yet to set a date for their big day, due to both of their hectic schedules.

When asked if they have made any preliminary plans, Tyneside-born Edwards replied: “Not yet, but me mam can’t wait and it’s getting on me nerves.

“She’s like: ‘What about the flowers? What about this dress?’ And I’m like: ‘Mam, stop!’ We’ve been so busy, but I literally can’t wait to start planning me wedding.”

British Summer Time 2014 - July 13th

Little Mix have said they like their live shows to be “cheeky” but not too raunchy for their younger fans.

The Salute singers – Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall – have fans of all ages come to see their shows and so have to make sure they are family friendly.

Perrie said: “We like to get down, we like to be a little bit cheeky and a little bit sexy but never too much, we’re never going to gyrate on the ground and hump the floor!”

Jade added: “We’ve got topless dancers but that’s probably as far as it goes.”

Jesy chipped in: “We need something for the mums, d’you know what I mean? The mums want to see a topless man.”

Leigh-Anne said: “Our style of dancing is more strong and powerful than sexy. Salute is very powerful.”

The girls are set to headline at Osborne Summer Concerts, held in the grounds of Osborne House on the Isle of Wight on Saturday July 26.

The band said they hoped to have gained new fans from their festival appearances over the summer.

Leigh-Anne said: “You’ve got to embrace every second. We love gaining new fans so its nice to perform to people who don’t know who we are, because it’s good to hopefully impress them and make them fans.”

Little Mix bandmates Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall are reportedly single after calling time on their respective relationships with Diversity pair Jordan Banjo and Sam Craske.

The singers were without their boyfriends on Tuesday evening, when they helped manager Annecka Griffiths celebrate her birthday at Steam & Rye – the popular bar-restaurant co-owned by Kelly Brook.

A source told The Daily Mirror’s 3am: ‘It happened very recently for both couples. While it’s strange timing and quite a coincidence that both girls were dating boys in the same dance troupe, it seemed to have stemmed from the amount of time they are able to spend together because of their

‘The girls are about to go on a huge US tour, which will see them spend the entire rest of the summer apart.’

The source added: ‘That’s tough for any relationship, but especially when the girls are still so young.’

Jesy, 23, originally split with Jordan – the younger brother of fellow Diversity member Ashley – in March, two years after she and Jade, 21, started dating the two dancers.

But the pair quickly rekindled their romance before uniting for a joint Little Mix and Diversity performance during the Britain’s Got Talent final.

When Perrie, Jesy, Leigh-Anne and Jade sang their way to victory in 2011’s eighth series of The X Factor UK, who could have guessed that this awesome bunch of girls could go on to become one of the most successful bands in the world!? Tulisa’s so called ‘Little Muffins’ have gone on to eclipse the achievements of their former mentor, both in the UK and – especially – abroad.

The biggest thing since the Spice Girls?

Some Little Mixers won’t be able to remember what a big deal the Spice Girls were when they launched to super-stardom in the 1990s, but let’s just say it was pretty much the closest thing to Beatlemania (or One Direction-mania!) there’s ever been.

Loads of groups become great in the UK, but the real test of whether a group has worldwide legendary potential is how well they do in the charts in the United States. Little Mix did their label boss Simon Cowell proud (and made him an even richer man) by scoring a number #4 U.S. album chart entry with their debut LP – one place higher than the Spice Girls back in 1995!

Enjoying their success and working hard

For millions of people around the world, being a pop star like the members of Little Mix is a dream. Don’t be fooled though, the girl’s are working super-hard. With hundreds of appearances to make every year including concerts, interviews and publicity events; as well as singing rehearsals, choreography and near-constant travelling, it’s no walk in the park being a member of Little Mix. Poor Perry hardly ever gets to spend time with her hunky One Direction fiancée, and the girls almost certainly didn’t get to hit the casinos on their recent trip to Vegas – maybe they played in an online casino on the tour bus instead!

What makes Little Mix so perfect for America?

Little Mix are big stars in the UK, but they’re arguably even bigger in the US. So what exactly is it that makes them so perfect for the States? Maybe it’s their Brit appeal… The Americans don’t always get the British, but when they do, they love them – just think of The Beatles touching down at the height of the teenage rock and pop revolution! Even though many Americans struggle to understand what Little Mix are saying, they love their Britishness. Throw into the mix some great r’n’b style singing and the band’s cute and cool style and it’s easy to see why America’s crazy for Little Mix!

Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has said she thinks her bandmates have sexy bodies.

The petite singer admitted she would love to have their curvy bodies.

The 21-year-old told Fabulous magazine: “Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson both exude sexiness.

“Jesy has the most amazing body – I’d do anything to have that figure. I’m like a 12-year-old boy.”

Jade revealed that she is more confident since winning The X Factor in 2011 but she doesn’t feel any sexier.

She said: “I’d say I’m more mature.”

Jade added: “I wouldn’t say sexy.”

Meanwhile, Little Mix recently announced their new single will be Salute.

The title track from their album follows their Sport Relief charity track Word Up!.

The girls are to begin working on their third studio album in the coming months.

They said they wanted to “write with more American producers” on the project.

Jade added that they wanted to collaborate with Jason Derulo and Macklemore on their next album.
